This is another of our sunglasses trivia pages. Here we ask the daft (or maybe not so daft) question: why did roy orbison wear sunglasses?!
Well, that popularly held answer to that lies in a TV documentary where Orbison was interviewed. The explanation he gave was that he once boarded a plane on the East coast in bright daylight wearing his normal prescription sunglasses. But he forgot his regular glasses. Well, when the plane landed it had gotten dark, but he had to keep wearing the prescription sunglasses because he'd left his regular glasses behind. From that incident, it led to them becoming his popular trademark.
